Another arrest was made Saturday, which resulted in the recovery of other property that was believed stolen.

Sgt. James Kiessel said a warrant was obtained last week to search the residence of Roel Roman of 207 E. Fifth St., Northport. The warrant was served on Friday night, when seven deputies conducted the search of the Northport home.

Both Roman and his girlfriend were arrested, but as of Wednesday only Roman had been arraigned in 86th District Court on a charge of receiving and concealing stolen property worth more than $1,000, but less than $20,000. The habitual offender clause is also being sought against Roman. Piersall is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on a receiving and concealing charge.

According to court documents, deputy Scott Robinson was called to Northport to investigate a breaking and entering complaint. Kiessel said the victims had stored their snowmobiling apparel in a relative’s house at the end of last winter. When they went to check on the apparel in early November, they discovered the items were missing.

The Sheriff’s Department received a break on Dec. 9 when one of the victims allegedly saw Roman’s girlfriend wearing a pair of snowmobile boots he knew were some of the stolen items. Based on the information, Kiessel said the department was able to obtain a search warrant.

The deputies also found tools and a laptop computer that was later identified as property of Northport Public School.

As a result of this search, the department secured another search warrant for an Omena-area home. The search occurred Saturday evening, and a 20-year-old Northport man was arrested and charged with receiving and concealing stolen property with a value greater than $1,000, and less than $20,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned in the 86th District Court Friday morning. Recovered from the houses and an old water well on a neighboring adjacent property were paintball guns, equipment and supplies. The items were reported stolen on Oct. 10.

Kiessel said law enforcement officials are hoping the arrests will lead to breaks in other breaking and entering cases around the county.
