Construction value of permits are down 19% for last year.
The number and value of construction permits issued during the first two weeks of December did little to advance year-to-date totals any closer to last year’s totals.
The 24 permits issued by the Leelanau County Building Inspections department in the latest reporting period brought the year-to-date total number of permits issued to 552. That figure is more than 24 percent behind the total seen by this time last year.
The estimated construction value of the new permits totaled $2,153,432, bringing the year-to-date total to $36,815,727 – down more than 19 percent from the total seen by this time in 2006.
