Grand Traverse Musicale is offering nine music scholarships for band, orchestra, piano and voice students in grades 7-11 who live in the Grand Traverse area.

The scholarship money will be applied to 2008 summer music studies. Grand Traverse Musicale has been offering the scholarships for more than 70 years.

Four $500 scholarships and four $200 scholarships will be awarded. In addition, the $500 Agnes Hayden Scholarship will be awarded.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the First Congregational Church in Traverse City from 4 to 7 p.m. Students will be asked to perform a 3-minute selection in one performance category.

Scholarship applications are available from private music teachers, and from school band, orchestra and voice teachers. They can also be obtained from scholarship chairman Nancy Landfair at 946-0467. The application deadline is Jan. 26.
