Frank Schrader, M.D.

1924-2007


A celebration of life was slated to take place today, Dec. 27, at 2:30 p.m., at Grace Episcopal Church in Traverse City, for Frank Joseph Schrader, M.D., of Northport, who died Dec. 16 at his home. He was 83.

He was born on Aug. 15, 1924, in Massillon, Ohio. On June 21, 1947, he married the former Jocelyn Lee Beeson, who survives.

He served in the Army as a medic during World War II. He completed medical school at the University of Cincinnati in 1950 and subsequently completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Michigan. He practiced in Jackson until he retired in 1988 and moved to northern Michigan. He enjoyed playing golf, skiing and sailing.

Also surviving are his children, Chip Schrader of Boulder, Colo., Ellen Schrader of Traverse City, Patty (Lee) Gelatt of Grand Junction, Colo.; a sister, Miriam McCorkle of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Call; and a brother, George Schrader.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Leelanau Township Library, Planned Parenthood of Northern Michigan, or the Marillac Clinic of Grand Junction, Colo.
