Training for carpentry, heating/air conditioning, plumbing and electrical careers begins this month at Northwestern Michigan College.
The classes, which are taught in state-of-the-art building sciences labs, are designed to fit the needs of those working in construction-related fields, beginning a career, or gaining personal skills.
To fit the needs of working students, most courses meet one evening a week and can be applied toward a certificate in construction technology.
In addition to the semester-long courses, shorter seminars offered this winter include: construction management; hydronic and solar heating systems; CFC recovery; and installing and servicing water heating systems. Courses relating to energy are also available, including a solar power seminar, a bio-diesel processor-building workshop, and classes on green building techniques and materials.
