1919-2007

A service was to be held today, Jan. 3, at 2 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City, for longtime Glen Lake seasonal resident Patricia D. Rockwood who died Dec. 30 at Munson Medical Center. She was 88.

She was born May 24, 1919, in Oak Park, Ill., to Samuel E. and Lillian Hope Dean. On May 16, 1942, in Hinsdale, Ill., she married John M. Rockwood Sr., who survives.

She graduated from Bradford College and summered on Glen Lake where she met her husband. She and her husband moved to the area in the late 1970’s. She was very involved with Central United Methodist Church, the Trillium Garden Club, and as a volunteer at Interlochen. She loved animals, music, needlepoint and reading.

Also surviving are her three sons and two daughters, John Jr. (Virginia) of Maple City, Andrew (Margaret) and William (Donna) of Barrington, Ill., Patricia Rockwood of San Diego, Calif., and Susan (Robert) Bourne of Traverse City; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Grumhaus; and brothers, Samuel E. Dean Jr., Howard M. Dean and Stuart H. Dean.
