S-B Township sets recreation 'vision' session

Members of the public have been invited to attend a Suttons Bay Township Recreation Committee "visioning session" Tuesday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m. at the township office at 321 St. Joseph Ave. (M-22) in downtown Suttons Bay.

The purpose of the meeting will be to accept public input on an update to the township’s five-year recreation plan, according to township supervisor and recreation committee member Rich Bahle. In order to meet state requirements and remain eligible for state grant funding, townships are required to update their recreation plans every five years, Bahle explained.

A report published in another newspaper that the Jan. 15 meeting would focus on a fundraising plan for the township’s proposed Herman Park project was innaccurate, Bahle said. Although the Herman Park project and the fundraising effort will likely be a subject of discussion, Bahle said, the main purpose of the meeting will be to discuss a number of other parks and recreation projects in the township relative to the recreation plan update.
