Students from Northport High School will mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday with a series of presentations from students in the Community Arts Center.
Jason Tropf, Edward Paraz, Chris Blessing and Rose Petoskey will provide an introduction to the civil rights leader. King’s teachings and principles will be the focus of remarks from students Heaven Firestone, Octavia Buss, Chris Hammersley and Amanda Adams. And Betsy Shiner, Emily Stowe, Kelly Fischer, Evan Moran and Eric Johnson will present information on the civil rights movement.
The presentations will be followed by a talk on King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, given by Eli Shiner, Tani Roman, Shane Detweiler, Tyler Millard and Quenton Buss. The program will conclude with a section called “lift every voice and sing” presented by Edward Gonzalez, Amanda Luna, Sophie Mosher and Max Raphael.
The event will take place from 1:55 to 3:15 p.m., and the public is welcome to attend
