Solon officials hear plan for establishing up to 6 boat slips.

SNOW PILES up on a bench on the north
shore of the Victoria River in Cedar, where
a proposed boat launch improvement project
would establish slips for up to six boats.
Proposed improvement plans to the boat launch area along the river in Cedar were shared with the Solon Township Board last week.
Ray Pleva, of the Cedar Chamber of Commerce, unveiled plans to dredge material from the river bottom and establish slips for up to six boats at the site.
Township clerk Shirley Mikowski said the proposed improvements would not require expansion of the existing banks and would include filling some areas and depositing stones. Any improvements would also have to meet the approval of the Department of Environmental Quality.
Meanwhile, no definite date has been set for the township Annual Meeting. However, Mikowski said the joint boat launch project — between the Chamber of Commerce and Solon Township — will likely be a point of discussion at the township Annual Meeting this spring.
The Annual Meeting is traditionally held the last Saturday of March.
In unrelated business, board members learned that Cora Cole is stepping down from her seat on the township Zoning Board of Appeals, for health reasons.
Applicants will be sought to fill her vacant seat.
