Preparations for the upcoming fiscal year and road improvement priorities were discussed last week by the Centerville Township Board.
The board, while meeting at the Cedar fire hall Jan. 9, discussed budget items for the 2008-09 fiscal year, which begins April 1.
Among items to be considered are replacing the roof of the township hall, road improvements, and a $48,000 contribution to fire department operations.
Centerville Township has been supporting the Solon/Centerville Fire Department with an annual payment from its general fund, while Solon Township collects an extra-voted millage.
Supervisor Leonard Kelenski hinted that the township may also have to consider going for a millage this year, rather than taking fire funding from the general fund.
“If we take it from the general fund, that will leave us with (a fund balance) of about $170,000,” he said. “We may have to look at that.”
Also likely to be considered in the 2008-09 budget are replacement of the roof at the township hall, and road improvements.
“Right now, Schomberg Road, between Bodus and the Isadore church, is at the top of our priority list,” Kelenski said.
The “roller coaster road” travels up and down and is pitted with potholes.
In other business during the regular monthly meeting, the board:
• Rescheduled its February meeting from Feb. 13 to Feb. 6 because a board member is scheduled to be out of town.
• Appointed Ruth Popa, Mila MacNaughton, David Wurm and Patricia Fleis as election inspectors for this week’s Primary election
