The Leelanau County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority held its annual organizational meeting Tuesday morning and re-elected its entire slate of officers.
The authority was established last year, and Tuesday’s annual organizational meeting was its first.
Re-elected as chair was Barbara Gordon. David “Chauncey” Shiflett was re-elected vice chairman and Mark Walter secretary/treasurer. Shiflet and Walter are also county commissioners.
The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority also approved a meeting schedule for 2008 with meetings to be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
The head of the county Planning and Community Development Department, Trudy Galla, serves as professional staff for the authority. In a news release, Galla reported that the authority this week approved an agreement for services with Envirologic Technologies for work on a petroleum site assessment that will be underwritten by a grant the county received last year from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Galla added that a 2008 budget for the authority includes funding for several members to attend the 2008 National Brownfields Conference in Detroit in May.
