A series of programs aimed at bringing family fun to winter are scheduled on several upcoming Mondays in the Dennos Museum Center at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.
Stories, Scribbles and Wiggles is for children ages 3 to 5 and their parents or grandparents. Each session includes activities in the galleries, a related story, and an art project. A museum admission charge applies, plus a $1 art supply fee.
Next Monday’s program is Exploring the West: Chatham Landscapes. Other dates and program titles include Myth and Color of the Woodland Indian, on Feb. 25; Inuit Animals, on March 24; CANVAS: Exploring a 3D Environment, on May 19; and Light and Color, on June 23. All programs will run from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Reservations are recommended since there is a maximum of 25 youths per program. Reservations can be made by contacting Diana Bolder at 995-1029, dbolander@nmc.edu.
Dennos is also hosting Family Day on Saturday, Feb. 9. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., participants will create Valentines while learning about frosty Arctic Canada and exploring the winter landscapes of Russell Chatham’s Montana. Many art projects and activities will also be available to entertain the entire family.
