For those who rent the Glen Arbor Township hall for a wedding and want to get a jump on decorating, it's going to cost following action taken last week by the Township Board.

The board voted 4-0 Jan. 21 to support a recommendation from Clerk Bonnie Quick to charge township residents and non-residents alike $200 per day for time needed before or after a main event scheduled at the hall.

Quick said wedding parties have been asking to get in the hall a day early, or ask for an extra day afterward, to decorate or clean. The trend was complicating the reservation process overseen by the township clerk.

Wedding parties that have already booked the hall for a summer celebration will not be affected by the fee increase. However, new reservations for the hall will be $300 per day for residents and $500 for non-residents, plus the additional $200 charge for extra days to decorate or clean.

Businesses reserving the township meeting room in the lower level of the hall will be charged $50 per half-day. Artists or others holding classes in which a fee is charged will have to pay $100 per day. Neither were charged for the use previously.

In other business during the scheduled monthly meeting, the board:

• Agreed to decline participation in the review process for 14 residences seeking Department of Environmental Quality permits associated with a group waste disposal system off County Road 675. The homes front on Brooks Lake.

• Received a request from the Glen Lake Association for an increase in its contribution toward the association’s swimmer’s itch and invasive species control efforts. It will be considered during 2008-09 budget preparations.
