John and Dora Korson of Suttons Bay have just celebrated the 25th anniversary of their business, Jade Tool, in Traverse City.

CELEBRATING 25 years of business as
Jade Tool are (from left) John, Dora of
Suttons Bay and their son, Dan of Lake
Leelanau.
The company provides custom solutions for production machining companies in the U.S. and abroad that manufacture metal subcomponents for industrial applications.
Jade Tool began as a two-person operation, but now employs a staff of 21 that includes engineers, operators and assemblers. The business has always been a family enterprise, with John Korson running the shops, Dora Korson handling administrative tasks, and each of the Korson’s 12 children working along with the regular staff at some point while growing up. One of them, son Dan, inherited his parents’ passion for the industry and is now a 22-year veteran of the company who is being groomed to take over as head of Jade Tool when his father retires.
