The Leelanau County Democratic Party will hold a Presidential Candidate Caucus on Saturday, Feb. 9, from noon until 4 p.m. at the Munnecke Room at the Leland Library.
All Leelanau County Democrats who are registered voters, or who will be registered to vote for the Nov. 4, 2008 General Election, are invited to participate whether or not they voted in the Jan. 15 state primary. Voting can be done anytime between noon and 4 p.m.
The caucus will be an unofficial poll of the Leelanau County Democratic Party to allow Leelanau Democrats the opportunity to vote for their candidate of choice among all the Democratic candidates running for president. It does not supersede the state Presidential Primary on Jan. 15. During the primary, not all Democratic candidates were listed on the ballot. All current Democratic Party presidential candidates will be on the caucus ballot.
Results will be forwarded to the State of Michigan Democratic Party as well as the Democratic National Committee, and will be published in the county Democratic newsletter. For additional information, contact Leelanau County Democratic Party chairman Jon Boulton at 935-0058 or email him at boultjon@aol.com.
