A 10-year-old downstate boy was injured after the snowmobile he was driving crashed into a tree stump in Solon Township Sunday morning.
The boy was driving with a group of family and friends around 10:30 a.m. when he hit the stump, which was not visible under snow in a field along Gallivan Road. According to an accident report read by Undersheriff Scott Wooters, the boy was thrown off the snowmobile and landed on snow-covered logs.
Wooters said the boy received non-incapacitating injuries and was transported by ambulance to Munson Medical Center. According to a Munson spokesperson, the boy was treated and released.
Children under the age of 12 may only drive snowmobiles on private property that is owned by their parents or legal guardians. It was not clear who owned the property where the accident took place.
