1934-2008

Services have been held for Empire native Marcia (Dhuyvetter) DeBerard of Ontario, Calif., who died Jan. 20 in California. She was 74.

She was born Jan. 19, 1934, the daughter of Joseph and Celesta (Taghon) Dhuyvetter of Empire. Her husband, Robert DeBerard, preceded her in death.

She moved to California in 1947 and was a land developer.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Steve) Roderick of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Cindy (Gary) Alten of Alta Loma, Calif.; a son, John (Robin) DeBerard of LaVerne, Calif.; sisters, Joan (Don) Harriger of Empire, Patricia Spreng of Empire and Sandy (Patrick Peartree) Dhuyvetter of Olivenhain, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
