Pathfinder classes aimed at helping parents with math

The Pathfinder School in Greilickville will offer a series of classes for parents interested in learning or brushing up on their math skills.

Beginning Saturday, middle school math teacher Audrey Pittinos will lead classes for any parents in the Traverse City community who would like to experience the “math class of today,” sharpen their math skills or relearn math techniques they may have forgotten.

Pittinos graduated from Temple University, is a four-time speaker for the National Council of Teachers in Mathematics annual conference, and holds secondary mathematics certification in new Jersey and Michigan.

There is no cost, but reservations are required.

Classes are Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the Pathfinder School campus, located on 11930 S. West Bay Shore Drive.

The series schedule is as follows: Feb. 9 — Number sense: vocabulary; Feb. 23 — Forgotten Algebra Part I: a survey of algebra I; March 1 — Forgotten Algebra Part II: A survey of algebra II; and March 8 — Fractals and Fractions.

Further information is available by calling 995-3829 or 995-3800, or by visiting www.thepathfinderschool.org.
