No salary increases are being sought in Kasson Township for 2008-09.
Township board members declined to propose salary increases at their regular monthly meeting Monday night. “Our salaries will stay as they are,” Clerk Kathlyn Feys said.
State law requires that township boards adopt a salary resolution a minimum of 30 days prior to the Annual Meeting of township habitants. Kasson’s Annual Meeting is scheduled for March 29.
Barring action from the audience attending the Annual Meeting, salaries for township officials will remain at current levels in the upcoming budget year, which begins April 1.
Currently, the township supervisor receives $8,200 a year. The clerk earns $12,300, and the treasurer is paid $11,800. Township trustees receive $80 per meeting.
In other business Monday night, Sarah Litch, president of the Glen Lake Association, asked that the township consider increasing its annual contribution for recreational activities in 2008-09. For many years, the townships surrounding the Glen lakes have given nominal contributions to the association, used to offset the cost of swimmer’s itch and invasive species control efforts. Last month, Litch appeared before the Glen Arbor Township Board seeking an increase to help the association try to keep up with the cost of programming.
Kasson’s annual contribution has been $500.
Litch offered no suggestions as to what the increase should be, Feys said.
The Township Board is expected to consider the request when preparing the 2008-09 budget. A budget work session is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, March 15.
In other business during the hour-long meeting, the board agreed to advertise three upcoming vacancies on the township Board of Appeals.
