A series of educational classes is being developed with support of the Master Gardener Association of Northwest Michigan that will focus on environmentally sustainable garden practices.
Classes will be categorized into two themes: Green Ornamental & Landscape; and Growing Green Vegetables and Fruits.
Classes are scheduled to begin this spring and run throughout the growing season. Individual classes will be conducted at the new Leelanau County governmental center in Suttons Bay Township, the Northwest Michigan Horticultural Research Station in Bingham Township, or “on location” at area homes.
Expert gardeners or local growers with expertise in specific areas, and an interest in teaching a class, are invited to submit a course proposal (available online at www.msue.msu.edu/leelanau, clink on “home horticulture”).
A schedule detailing individual classes and registration will be publicized in mid- to late-February.
Questions may be directed to 256-9888 or schmi345@msu.edu.
