1913-2008
Committal services will be held in the spring at Maple Grove Cemetery in Empire for Empire native Irene Louise King-Stonecliffe of Janesville, Wis., who died Feb. 2 in Wisconsin. She was 94.
She was born on Dec. 13, 1913, in Empire, the daughter of Charles and Lotta Emma (Hall) King. On July 16, 1935, in South Bend, Ind., she married Robert C. Stonecliffe who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1997.
A graduate of Michigan State University, she was active in her community in Wisconsin, serving as president of the Art League and actively supporting the First Church of Christ, Scientist.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary (Timothy) Beard III of New Oxford, Pa., and Donna Hunsberger of Princeton, N.J.; two sons, John (Twyla) Stonecliffe of Rockford, Ill., and George (Sue) Stonecliffe of Portland, Ore; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
