According to reports filed by deputy Ross Arena of the county Sheriff’s Department, at 4:10 p.m. Friday a Northport resident was traveling south on M-22, about 600 feet south of the Omena fire hall, when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the road and rolled over on the small hill side on the west side of the road. The woman was not injured and the vehicle landed wheel-side down.
At 12:45 p.m. on the same stretch of M-22, a Frankfort man lost control of his sports utility vehicle and wound up in the ditch on the east side of the road.
Drivers in both accidents were wearing their seat belts at the time, and alcohol was not a factor in either accident. Units from the Leelanau Township Fire and Rescue Department, Northport EMS, and the State Department of Natural Resources responded to the second accident.
