The move of Leelanau County offices out of Leland and into the new $10.6 million Government Center in Suttons Bay Township was under way this week.

MOVING COMPANY personnel unload a moving
van in front of the new Leelanau County Government
Center in Suttons Bay Township Friday, when the
relocation of the county seat from Leland to the
new facility began.
The county administrator’s office, the Michigan State University Extension office and the Building Inspections department office were among the first to move to the new county seat Friday with boxes of files and office supplies transported by a moving van.
In many cases, county employees worked through the weekend to get their offices reorganized in their new location. The first of the newly relocated offices were open for business by Tuesday morning.
Beginning tomorrow, the county Register of Deeds, Treasurer, Equalization, and Planning offices will move to the new facility. They will be followed on Feb. 22 by the county Clerk’s office and court offices. The final move will occur Feb. 29, with the Prosecutor’s office and the Commission on Aging.

of time in this posture over the next several weeks
as he hooks up computer and phone systems as
