G-A fire chief will give talk to women's club

Glen Arbor Fire Chief John Dodson will be the guest speaker at the Wednesday, March 5 meeting of the Glen Lake Woman's Club (GLWC).

The meeting, which will begin at noon at the Glen Arbor Public Safety Building, will feature Dodson on the topic, “Who We Are and What We Do”. The meeting will include a tour of the fire station and equipment and a discussion of the services offered by the department, fire and ambulance.

The GLWC, which was formed in 1937 and is now in its 71st year, meets the first Wednesday of each month, usually at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church. Club projects are the Fourth of July flag raising ceremony at the Old Settlers Picnic Grounds, a Christmas party for residents at the Maple Valley Nursing Home, and the biggest fundraising event in Glen Arbor — the July Art Fair at the township hall. Fair proceeds help fund eight Glen Lake School scholarships to Northwestern Michigan College and three to Blue Lake Music Camp, The scholarships totaled $11,325 last year.
