The win left St. Mary at 15-5 to end the regular season, and helped the Eagles realize on the team’s goals at the start of the season, coach Paula Korson said.

"We set a goal of 15 wins by the end of the regular season, and we just made it with the win over the Bulldogs," she said. The Bulldogs had trounced St. Mary, 76-24, on Feb. 5, so getting the win Thursday, which was Senior Night, was an emotional plus for the Eagles.

"With our seniors playing their last game on their home court, it was exciting to get the home win," Korson said. The Eagles seniors include Alyssa Korson, Breanna Korson, Susan Herman, Katherine Miller, Kayla Kermode and Sarah Schaub.

St. Mary kept the lead throughout the game with scores of 17-11, 36-26 and 52-50 at the quarter breaks. The Bulldogs scored five three-pointers in the game, four of which came in the third quarter.

Alyssa Korson scored 17 points to lead St. Mary, and Allison Korson added 13 points. Christy Miller chipped in 11, and Bradi Pasch and Brooke Fortner had 8 each.

Cherryland Conference rival Northport wrapped up its regular season with two wins to improve to 4-15.

The Wildcats defeated Alba, 47-33, on Thursday and Bear Lake on Wednesday, 40-26.

"Getting the win over Alba was great, they beat us 20 the last time we played. These two wins were just a good way to cap the regular season," said Northport coach Gary Longcore.

Alba took a 13-10 lead after the first quarter against Northport but afterward it was all Wildcats, who outscored Alba 12-1 for a 22-14 halftime lead and 6-4 in the third stanza for a 28-18 advantage.

"Alba has a couple of good three-point shooters and we were able to shut them down in the second and third quarters," Longcore said. "We passed the ball really well found the open shooter. We played an overall great game," he said.

Emily Stowe scored 26 points to lead Northport. Betsy Shiner and Monni Raphael each scored 7 points for the Wildcats..

At Bear Lake on Wednesday, Northport outscored the Lakers 19-3 in the third quarter to pull away for the win. "Octavia Buss is our point guard and she kept the ball moving against their zone defense. She has been really solid all season," Longcore said. Stowe scored 24 points for Northport, Shiner had 8, Shauna Sitarek had 10 rebounds, and Kristina Leabo had 9 rebounds.

Leland ended the regular season with a Northwest Conference win at Mesick, 58-39. The game was scheduled for Thursday, but was rescheduled to Saturday due to the weather.

"We had a big first quarter against them. Erica Breen scored 10 points in that quarter and that really got us going," coach Jon Kiessel said. With scores of 27-5, 35-15 and 46-21 at the quarter breaks, Leland stayed ahead all game.

Erin Sneed scored 21 points to lead Leland, Breen had 14 and Dena Popp had 8.

Neither Glen Lake nor Suttons Bay fared well in their regular season finales, with the Lakers losing at Kingsley, 77-24, and Benzie defeated Suttons Bay, 55-20. For Glen Lake, Amanda Lautner scored 8 points. Norsemen Biri Luna netted 12 to lead Suttons Bay.
