1916-2008

Services were held Saturday in Suttons Bay for Barbara Dell Schneidewind of Omena who died Feb. 13 at her home. She was 91.

She was born July 29, 1916, in Omena, the daughter of Benjamin and Hazel (Williams) Foltz. On Jan. 27, 1942, in Detroit, she married Henry C. Schneidewind, who preceded her in death on Nov. 5, 2004.

She and her husband lived in the Detroit area where she was a teacher. She
earned a masters degree at Wayne State University, taught speech in high school, and published poetry and children’s books. In 1980, she and her husband retired to their Omena bayside home. Both were members of the Omena Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Kamp and Lynn DeBoo, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lorie Pawlik, and her sister, Dorothy Foltz Griffiths.
