1935-2008

Funeral services have been held for Ronald H. Alpers of Traverse City who died Feb. 6 at Munson Hospice House. He was 72.

He was born on Aug. 2, 1935, in Traverse City, to the late Harold and Caroline Alpers. On Aug. 13, 1960, in Frankfort, he married Joan Strom, who survives.

For more than 30 years he and his wife owned the Cedar Tavern in Cedar. He enjoyed all kinds of sports as well as traveling around the country as a motor coach driver.

Also surviving are his stepmother, Adeline of Leland; a son, Scott (Julie) Alpers of Kingsley; a daughter, Ellen (Roger) Stachnik of Traverse City; a sister, Liz Poort of Muskegon; and three grandchildren.
