Happy birthday this week to Ron Tonneberger, Alison Biskupski, Molly Smith, and Beverly Gaudette.
Charlotte Read from Alexandria, Va., spent last week in Omena. Her son Nathan, his wife Sarah, and their 18-month old daughter Nora were also here for the Presidents Day weekend. Nora enjoyed experiencing the snow, and Charlotte cross country skied and snow-shoed with Omena friends every day she was here.
Club 21 will resume its monthly meetings in March. The next meeting is Wednesday, March 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the community room in the firehouse in Omena.
Rebecca Van Pelt and Kevin Wade were recently married in Anchorage, Alaska. The Wades are living in Anchorage, where Kevin is stationed at Fort Richardson with the U.S. Army. He will be deployed soon for his third tour in Iraq.
Attending the wedding from the Van Pelt family were the bride’s parents, Tom
and Deb Van Pelt, her sister, Sarah Murphy from Grand Rapids, and her aunt, Lori Browe from Atwood.
Annette and Gil Deibel’s granddaughter, Meagan Muladore, is in San Jose, Costa Rica for three months studying intensive Spanish. Meagan is a sophomore at Saginaw Valley State University. She is staying with a wonderful family who host several students. Meagan is sending friends and family a fascinating email account of her adventures there.
Jim and Kathy Miller took the train from Grand Rapids for a fun five-day stay in Chicago. While in Chicago, they saw Jim’s daughter Heidi and her husband Henry Hoffman, who were there from Charlotte, N.C. Henry was conducting an occupational therapy seminar, which Jim and Kathy attended in part. They also saw their friend Jeanne Collier from Coronado, Calif. They thoroughly enjoyed the train travel, in spite of glitches with frozen rail cars and an unintended side trip, which got them back to Grand Rapids a bit behind schedule.
The question in Omena is, are we on track for spring?
