1927-2008

Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay, and a memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Church in Northport, for Eloise Anderson Basta of Leland who died March 4 at Munson Hospice House. She was 80.

She was born on Dec. 16, 1927, the daughter of Louis F. and Muriel (Wrisley) Anderson. On June 15, 1957, in Northport, she married George A. Basta Jr., who survives.

She worked many years in the Anderson stores at Northport and Northport Point. She was a graduate of Milwaukee Downer College majoring in merchandising and worked six years in Chicago department stores before marrying and becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed needlepoint, golf, tennis, skiing and traveling. She was a member of Trinity Church in Northport, Chapter EM of P.E.O., the Little Garden Club, and the Leland Country Club.

She is also survived by a daughter, Julia M. (Galen) Walter of Kentwood; a son, William J. (Wendy) of Allentown, Pa.; a brother, George W. Anderson of Northport; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas A.

A committal service will take place in June at Beechwood Cemetery in Leland. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Church in Northport or the Alzheimer’s Association.
