Glen Arbor Town Board Regular Meeting
February 19, 2008
Supervisor Soderholm called the regular meeting of the Township Board to order at 7:30 PM, in the Glen Arbor Town hall meeting room. All Board members present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The agenda was presented and approved as amended by motion. Minutes of regular meeting 01/22/2008, special meetings 1/31/08 and 2/13/08, were approved by motion. Michigan Municipal Underwriters summarized 2008 insurance policy. Pubic comment – none. Deputy Rocky Cadieux reports no complaints for January. Treasurer’s report was given with cash on hand of $2,612,428.48. Bills for the General Fund for $22,443.37 and Emergency Services for $86,336.25 were approved by motion. By resolution salaries for Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer and Trustees were recommended by 4% per recommendation of the Salary and Wage Commission. The total base salary increase equals $3,050. Fire Chief John Dodson presented monthly report… By motion the board agreed to hire Gary McGhee, certified firefighter and licensed paramedic. Chief Dodson presented annual report and comprehensive 2007 annual budget summary, www.glenarborfire.com. Resolution to amend budget was made by motion. 2 permits issued per Zoning Admin. Hawley. Correspondence from Glen Lake Association letter of appreciation, Crystal River Oxbow Conservation Easement Monitoring, PILT payment to Glen Arbor for $11,016 was received from the County, Northwest Michigan Council of Governments, Leelanau Scenic Heritage Route, M-DEQ MOP conditional permit, MDOT regarding M-22 Bridge, MTA regarding property transfers and other periodicals were reviewed. Two issues regarding proposed public restrooms were discussed: 1) Lake Street Woods has a common well area and 2) an easement behind Northwood Resources. Other new business discussed: gym windows may receive solar protection and Carl Oleson Bridge may have underground power lines. Planning commission reports windmills will be discussed at March’s meeting. For rental properties, one temporary, non-illuminated real estate sign is allowed. Soderholm and other Board members would like to discourage rental signage in residential districts. No further comments from the Board, Public or Supervisor. Meeting adjourned at 8:49 PM.
