Seussical Jr. – the musical based on Dr. Seuss' beloved stories, Horton Hears a Who and Horton Hatches an Egg - will be presented this weekend by Glen Lake elementary and middle school students.

The cast includes more than 50 children in grades three through eight who have been rehearsing four days a week since January.

Lead parts include Holly Dowd as Horton, Casey Kahler as The Cat in the Hat, Ella Pierce Bluhm as Jo Jo, Emma Velis as Gertrude, Jake Lewis and Megan Wright as Mr. and Mrs. Mayor, and Angelee Welch as Mayzie. The Wickersham brothers are played by Charlie Velis, Reiss Skrocki and Keefer Edwards. The Grumpy Kangaroos are played by Nicole Pace along with her "twins," Ally Wuerfel and Kaitlyn Grigg. Nathan Therrien, the Grinch, has also offered hours of assistance in technology.

The play is directed by the mother/daughter team of Tami and Sarah Maurer, both elementary teachers at Glen Lake. Special help has also been given by Peg McNew, Tim Dowd and Toni Hill.

Seussical Jr. will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the school auditeria. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for elementary school-age children.
