Seven county residents were named to the dean's list at Ferris State University for their academic performance for the semester ending December 2007.

Retired school workers to host lunch program

Members of Grand Traverse Area Retired School Personnel will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 at the Traverse City Holiday Inn. The program is A Blooming Good Time — Gardening Tips for the Spring. The luncheon cost of $10 includes meal and gratuity.

Genealogical Society sets first meeting of year

The Grand Traverse Area Genealogical Society will hold its first meeting of the season on Thursday, March 20 at the Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church in Traverse City.

New zoning/planning head hired

The Elmwood Township Board approved the hiring of Chris Groebbel of Lake Leelanau as the township zoning administrator/planning coordinator.

Aug. 1-2 Relay for Life theme: 'the Pinkie Purple'

A ceremony marking the kickoff of this year's Leelanau County Relay for Life will be held Wednesday, March 19 at the Silvertree Deli in Suttons Bay.
