An adventure for teenagers staying in the area during spring break is being planned.
“Listening to the River” will offer participants the opportunity for students to connect with the Grand Traverse Bay Watershed by capturing the sights and sounds using digital audio recording equipment and the latest editing software to gather multi-media data. Students, ages 13-16, will work with local radio producers and watershed experts to examine key watershed issues and produce documentaries for broadcast on Interlochen Public Radio.
The 3-day workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 31, and April 1-2 at the Land Information Access Association in Traverse City, and on location at various sites around the watershed. All equipment and materials are provided and the program is free to participants through a grant that supports the project.
Space is limited to 12 participants. Registration deadline is March 26 and may be completed by calling 929-3696, or via email at www.listeningtotheriver.org.
