Pathfinder forming Summer Camp

Pathfinder School is now registering campers for Summer Camp 2008.

The camp program at the 22-acre wooded campus offers skills building, artistic discovery, academic challenges, and a host of summer fun activities for children ages 4-11.

Week-long camp sessions will be offered June 30 through Aug. 8.

Exploration Camp, developmentally appropriate for preschool children (ages 4 and 5), includes activities that emphasize the natural surroundings of Pathfinder School. Sessions include Explore Music Through Nature, Art with Nature, Under the Magnifying Glass, Parties in the Woods, Cream of the Crop, and How Does Your Garden Grow? Campers will also have opportunities at the waterfront on Cedar Lake, playground, free choice time, and hands-on activities each day. A half-day session is also available.

In the afternoon, sessions are designed for children to experience their senses by utilizing the outdoors. Activities include Science Exploration, Drawing Bugs in Nature, Simple Orienteering, Nature Games, and Drawing Nature. Designed for children age 4-7, the day will wrap up at 4 p.m.

Discovery Camp, for students ages 6-8, is designed for campers entering first and second grade. It offers wilderness exploration, hiking, map and compass skills, games, swimming, and fun activities. Sessions include Sending Nature, Hooked on Fishing, Roughin’ it in the Great Outback, Tree Houses and Forts, Squishing through the Swamp, and Cream of the Crop. Campers can add "Sharing Nature with Children" in the afternoon to make a full day of it.

Summer samplers for students ages 8 through 11 will also be available. Each week features a different theme, including Recycled Art (found object art), Canoeing (basic skills on Cedar Lake), "You Are Funny" improvisational theater, and Graffiti Art (big message graffiti painting).
