The Veterans Affairs office for Leelanau County has relocated along with the county seat from Leland to the new Government Center in Suttons Bay Township.

Veterans services are provided in Leelanau County through an arrangement with the Veterans Affairs office in Grand Traverse County. The Leelanau County office is in Suite 101 of the Government Center located at 8527 E. Government Center Dr. north of M-204.

Veterans Affairs representative Joe Meredith works at the VA office in Leelanau County each Tuesday.

Meridith said the VA office is reminding wartime veterans and surviving spouses about an under-used, special monthly pension benefit called Aid and Attendance. The benefit may be available to those who have in-home care or who live in nursing homes of assisted living facilities.
