Wireless Internet "HotSpots" have been added in Empire and Suttons Bay by CenturyTel.
The new service “adds more value by giving our customers another option to be online while away from home,” said Tom Kissane, CenturyTel’s Great Lakes Market general manager. He said checking email, streaming videos and communicating on instant messenger are now possible from multiple locations for customers in their communities.
The new WiFi (wireless fidelity) HotSpots are based in CenturyTel offices located on S. Larue St. in Empire, and N. St. Joseph St. in Suttons Bay. Customers can access the WiFi service by visiting downtown businesses within 1,100 feet of the two offices.
By the end of 2008, CenturyTel plans to offer HotSpots in approximately 20 of its markets, said Karen Puckett, company president and chief operating officer. For a list of company locations for secure Internet access, visit www.centurytel.com.
CenturyTel provides communications services to customers in 25 states.
