2 elected to legal professionals' board

Two Bingham Township residents were elected as board officers for a second term for 2008-09 by the Grand Traverse Area Legal Professionals at the annual membership meeting last week.

Rosanne Schaub was named vice-president, and Joan Schaub was elected treasurer.

Rosanne Schuab, who was named the National Association of Legal Professionals/Michigan Legal Professional of the Year in 2007, has more then 20 years in the legal profession and is the secretary to the director of Leelanau County Office of Emergency Management 9-1-1.

Joan Schaub, who has nearly eight years in the legal profession and was named Grand Traverse Area Legal Professional of the Year last October 2008, is employed with the Leelanau County Prosecutor’s office.

Mary Shomin, an employee of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians’ legal department, was elected second alternate governor and will serve as a liaison between the local chapter of legal professionals and the state association.

It is believed that she is the first member of the Grand Traverse Band to serve as an officer of the Grand Traverse Area Legal Professionals.
