Suttons Bay resident Ruth M. Schaub was installed as the National Association of Legal Professionals Certifying Board chairman for 2008-09 at a professional development conference in Tulsa, Okla., March 8.
The association is responsible for certifying more than 8,500 legal professionals nationwide. Schaub, who has more than 21 years in the legal field, is a trial paralegal with Parsons Ringsmuth PLC in Traverse City, specializing in plaintiff’s personal injury litigation, and is one of only 390 certified professional paralegals in the country.
As certification board chairman, she will oversee the nationwide committee that drafts the national exams for legal professionals, including the certified professional paralegal exam. She has been a member of that committee since 2006.
Currently, Schaub serves as president-elect of the National Association of Legal Professionals of Michigan and will be installed as president on May 2, 2008.
A 1976 graduate of Glen Lake School, Schaub earned her associate’s degree in claims from the Insurance Institute of America and was an honor student in the paralegal program at Northwestern Michigan College.
She is married to John M. Schaub of Suttons Bay and has three grown children.
