It's no joke. Members of the Elmwood Township Planning Commission will be reviewing comments made by residents about a proposed new Zoning Ordinance at a special meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. April 1 - April Fool's Day.
Commissioners received extensive comment about the ordinance, which has been years in the making. Recently hired Elmwood planner Chris Grobbels said the meeting will be devoted to incorporating those comments commissioners embrace into the ordinance.
Grobbels said planners will meet again on April 15, but he does not expect the ordinance to be ready for approval at the May 13 regular meeting of the Elmwood Township Board.
Grobbels said he has had his hands full since taking over a new position, that of planner and zoning administrator. He just started work Tuesday.
The community planner position held by Bill Swanson was eliminated by the Township Board in favor of a new position to handle planning and zoning issues. The position of zoning administrator was eliminated after the retirement of Don Witkowski in December.
