Assault, resisting arrest charges filed

A Suttons Bay woman was arraigned last week for allegedly assaulting two people, and for resisting arrest.

According to court documents, Amanda L. Robertson, 23, of 3014 N. W. Bay Shore Dr. was on her way home on March 14 when she looked through the window of a residence and saw her boyfriend sitting with a second person, the homeowner. Robertson then entered the residence without permission and assaulted her boyfriend and the second person, according to the documents. After police arrived, she also allegedly assaulted the officers, resisted arrest, and damaged the door and a porch light at the residence and one victim’s car.

Robertson was arraigned in 86th District Court Thursday on one count of second degree home invasion; assaulting, resisting, obstructing a police officer; two counts of malicious destruction of property more than $200, less than $1,000; one count of assault and battery domestic violence; and one count of assault and battery.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Friday, April 4 at 10:30 a.m. for Robertson, who is free after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond. As a condition of bond, she may not consume or be in possession of alcohol; must take and pass daily preliminary breath tests at discretion of her probation officer; have no contact directly or indirectly with the victims or enter the residence where the incident took place; not possess any weapons; and have no violent or threatening behavior toward anyone.

The first two charges are felonies. If Robertson is found guilty on the first charge she faces a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison and or paying $3,000 fines. The maximum penalty for the second felony charge is up to two years in jail and or $2,000 in fines. The remaining charges are misdemeanors. The maximum penalty on charges three and four are up to one year jail and or up to $2,000 in fines, or three times the amount of destruction or injury, which ever is greater. On charges five and six, the maximum penalty is up to 93 days in jail and or $500 in fines.
