EMMA COOK and Kyle Klumpp won the inaugural “Laker Idol” competition earlier this month at Glen Lake School. Cook and Klumpp performed Ain’t No Mountain High Enough in the first round of competition, held in mid-March while juniors were involved in Michigan Merit Exam testing. In the second round of competition, the senior performed a remixed version of Mary Had a Little Lamb. Second place went to Rowan Niemisto, who performed a self-written piece in the first round and Play That Funky Music in round two. Freshman Matt O’Brien, the third-place winner, sang Come Sail Away by Styx in the first round, and Hey There Delilah in the finals.
