Marjorie Ranger

Graveside services in the Leelanau Township Cemetery will be announced this spring for Marjorie Ranger of Northport who died March 15 at Bortz Health Care of Traverse City. She was 75.

She was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Letcher County, Ky., the daughter of Preston and Ethyle (Caudill) Cornett. On March 3, 1952, in Winchester, Ky., she married Lewis Ranger, who preceded her in death on Aug. 19, 2005.

While her husband was in the Air Force, the couple raised their family at locations across the U.S., in England, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the Philippines before retiring to the family farm in Northport. She then volunteered at the former Leelanau Memorial Hospital for 19 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Babcock of Northport; her siblings, Vernon Cornett of Indiana, Randolph Cornett of Ohio, Gary (Delores) Cornett of Indiana, Janice (Don) Ufferman of Florida, Lindell (Cindy) Cornett of Indiana, Elizabeth (Fred) Kreiger of Indiana, Patricia (Jim) Mucherheide of Indiana; and her stepmother, Oma Cornett of Indiana.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of one’s choice.
