More than 900 smelt dinners were served Friday at the Solon Township Hall by members of Cedar Rod and Gun Club - a turnout comparable to previous years.
According to club president Greg Julian, the 48th annual smelt dinner raised between $2,500 and $3,000, most of which will go toward construction of a new club house on the gun club grounds off Sullivan Road.
Julian said a raffle offering guns and other prizes was also very successful.
