The number and estimated value of construction permits issued by the Leelanau County Construction Code Authority so far this year appears to be rebounding from low levels seen in 2007 and 2006.

During the latest two week reporting period, 12 new construction permits were issued, bringing the number of permits issued so far this year to 60. Last year by this time, some 57 permits had been issued. Between 2005 and 2007, however, the number of permits issued had dropped by about 40 percent.

The latest dozen permits outline construction projects estimated to be worth a total of $1,001,778, bringing the year-to-date total estimated construction value to $5,223,003. That figure represents a jump of more than 10 percent from the same time in 2007, but still nearly 40-percent below the dollar figure recorded in 2005.

Following is a list of projects for which permits have been issued, listed by the community in which the work is being done:
