NMC Concert Band plans performance

Northwestern Michigan College's Community Concert Band will present a performance of Dances for Band at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 27 in Milliken Auditorium.

Under the direction of conductor Tom Riccobono, an Interlochen Arts Academy instructor, the band will perform works by John Barnes Chance, William Schumann, Eric Whitacre, Eric Ewazen, Paul Basler and Julius Fucik.

Riccobono will also perform a solo with the band,  Dances  for Trombone and Band, composed by Paul Basler.  Basler spent a sabbatical studying African rhythms and percussion instruments in Africa and subsequently began to incorporate these elements into his compositions.

The NMC Community Concert Band was formed in 1973 and totals more than 50 members.

Tickets are $8, and $6 for senior citizens.
