Big turnout expected at Chamber's Expo

A chance to network with business and community leaders on several levels will be offered at the third Leelanau Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Expo, again hosted at the Strongheart Center in Peshawbestown.

Some 112 businesses and organizations have reserved space at the Expo, which will begin with a breakfast at 7:30 a.m. next Wednesday, April 30, in the Leelanau Sands Showroom. Doors will be open at the Strongheart Center, which will be filled with exhibitors, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Event co-organizer Jackie Morrison expects a full house of exhibitors, but said the Chamber will try to fit in any last-minute attendees.

“There is still some room,” said Morrison. Jackie and Bill Morrison are organizing the event, which is held every other year. They are owners of the Business Helper in Suttons Bay.

“But it’s going to be cozy,” she added, with some 112 spaces already rented out to a variety of businesses and non-profit groups. Some businesses, such as the Bill Marsh auto dealership in Traverse City and Stander Marine of Leland, will be showing cars and boats on the grounds of the center.

The breakfast will be directly followed by reports from various business leaders, after which activity will move to the Strongheart Center. Morrison said near-constant entertainment has been lined up, including an octogenarian guitar picker from Northport.

Business owners will be offering several “freebies” to visitors as promotions, and drawings will be held for door prizes. There will be no admission charge to attend the Expo.

Call the Morrisons at 271-4404 for further information.
