Pigskin Classic golf event set.
The annual Glen Lake Lakers Pigskin Classic golf tournament will be held Sunday, June 8 at King’s Challenge Golf Course.
The 4-person scramble will include a skins game, closest to the pin and long drive
contests, and a 50/50 drawing.
Participants must be 18 years or older and are asked to be present at noon for the 1 p.m. shotgun start.
The cost is $85 per person which includes 18 holes of golf plus cart, and a prime rib buffet. The meal, prepared by Pete Bardenhagen and his Steak Haus staff, will feature carved prime rib, beer-battered whitefish, salad, potato, vegetable and dessert.
A first-place prize of $200 will be awarded, along with door prizes.
Registration is limited to the first 72 participants and may be completed by contacting Cathy Ritola (cathy110@centurytel.net) by May 30.
Hole sponsors and prize donations are also being sought.
All proceeds benefit the Glen Lake football program.

Former Suttons Bay golf team standout Nate Kelly is continuing his strong play as a freshman on the Saginaw Valley State University men’s golf varsity team.
After playing as an individual for Saginaw Valley earlier this season, Kelly competed with the varsity at the Great Lakes Regional Tournament at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind., over the weekend. He tied for eighth in the tournament after shooting a two-day total of 148 total.
The Cardinals finished eighth overall and are waiting to hear if they qualified for the Great Lakes Super Regional scheduled for May 5-7 at Red Hawk Run Golf Course in Findlay, Ohio. The tourney will determine Midwest teams that qualify for the NCAA Finals at Rice University in Houston May 14-17.

The local mountain biking team Pure Balance XC had a strong showing in the Michigan Mountain Biking Association’s Yankee Springs/Devil’s Soup Bowl time trial in Middleville, southeast of Grand Rapids.
The team, sponsored by Pure Water Works and Body Balance of Suttons Bay, includes husband and wife Chad and Heather Jordan of Suttons Bay, and Don Roth and Jack Kline of Benzonia.
Heather Jordan took third in the Sport Women 30- 39 division, Chad Jordan was 27th in Expert men (30-39) and Roth was 10th in the same category in a field of 39. Kline took fifth in the Expert Men (50 and over).
The team’s next race is May 4 the Fort Custer Stampede outside Battle Creek.
