The Cherryland Humane Society is gearing up for National Be Kind to Animals Week, May 4-10.

In celebration of the national event, the regional animal shelter will offer a $5 spay/neuter rebate for any dog or cat not altered and adopted from the shelter during the week.

The shelter invites visitors and those interested in adopting a homeless dog or cat to attend. It is located at 1750 Ahlberg Rd. in Traverse City. For more information, phone 946-5516.
