1929-2008

Services were held April 23 in Suttons Bay for Joyce Elaine Wilburn of Suttons Bay who died April 19 at Munson Hospice House. She was 78.

She was born May 6, 1929, in Lansing, the daughter of Harold and Clara (Ritchey) Cross. On June 12, 1949, in Lansing, she married David K. Wilburn, who survives.

She earned an associates degree in home economics from Andrews University and worked for many years in the Troy Public School System food services division. She and her husband retired to Suttons Bay and spent the last 22 years there. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and enjoyed collecting buttons. She was a member of the Traverse City Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Michigan Button Club.

Also surviving are her two children, Mark J. (Pam) Wilburn of Dimondale and Wendy K. (Robert) Brown of Danville, Ill.; a brother, Eric Cross; a sister, Joanne Coon; and two granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her brother Jimmie.

Burial will be at a later date in Suttons Bay Township Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Grand Traverse Area Parkinson’s Group and/or to Munson Hospice House.
