A two-plus page legal advertisement published in Section 4 of this week's Leelanau Enterprise by the Village of Suttons Bay contains a "routine update" of the village's water use ordinance, according to village clerk Dorothy Petroskey.
“We have had the ordinance in place for years, but our attorney thought it would be a good idea to update some of the language to conform with some technical changes in state law – and those changes made it a requirement that we re-publish the ordinance,” Petroskey explained.
News of the Village Council’s adoption of the updated water use ordinance was contained in a news story in last week’s Enterprise. The story also reported that around a dozen village property owners had failed to pay their water and sewer bills and were facing “shut-off” notices.
“I’m happy to report that every one of those who received the notices has paid off enough of their bill so that their accounts are current and no one’s service will be shut off,” Petroskey said. She added that the village will continue the practice of sending “shut-off” notices to those who fall behind in paying their water and sewer bills.
